The Rainbow Society thrives to support through education, empowerment and creation of a safe environment for the Gallaudet University lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) students and including LGBTQ allies.
The Rainbow Society also seeks ways to reach out to the diverse community at Gallaudet University and to promote understanding, awareness and unity among persons of the campus community.
ColorFEST is part of Rainbow Alliance for the Deaf (RAD) and it is to target the youth to provide leadership awareness and empowerment to be a successful member of their own community.
The ColorFEST is an important event planned by the LGBTQ and allies in National Technical Institute of the Deaf in Rochester, California State University Northridge and other colleges with programs that target the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing students who study in the programs with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. ColorFEST promotes the visibility and pride of the LGBTQ members and allies on member’s university campus and it also promotes community awareness of LGBTQ issues. Equally important is that the ColorFEST event empowers the LGBTQ students and their allies.
The opportunity to be recognized enhances LGBTQ and allies’ confidence in academic and career development. It encourages the LGBTQ to believe in them selves and set higher goals and career expectations for their future. We hope you recognize this importance.
